PASSENGER SAFETY, CARGO SAFETY AND HULL INTEGRITY TRAINING IN RO-RO PASSEGER SHIPS

Objective:

To give those, such as masters, chief engineers, mates, second engineers and other personnel directly responsible for passengers embarkation or disembarkation, for loading or unloading and for cargo lashing and securing, as well as for closure of openings in the hull and for keeping ship stability, the advanced specialization required in par. 7 of the rule V/2 and in accordance with par. 4 of section A-V/2 of STCW Convention as amended, to assume tasks of responsibility in ro-pax vessels.

Contents:

  • Ro-Ro systems
  • Use and maintenance of life saving appliances
  • Handling, manoeuvring and maintenance of the equipment
  • Embarking and disembarking of passengers with special regard to those with special needs
  • Cargo carrying and accidents with total loss of the ship (associated sliding of cargo)
  • Stability and structural resistance calculations
  • Operation and inspection of bow doors, stern doors, hull side doors and cargo access ramps
  • Operation and inspection of cargo and people spaces ventilation system
