INTRODUCTION
STUDY PROGRAMME
The Undergraduate Course in Marine Electrotechnical Engineering is designed to train Electrotechnical Officers (ETO) for the national and international merchant navy, in accordance with the training standards established by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

TRAINING AND CERTIFYING
Electrotechnical Officers (ETO) on board in accordance with the standards of the IMO - International Maritime Organisation - STCW - Standards of Training, Certification, and Watch keeping for Seafarers. ENIDH is the only higher education institution in Portugal to offer this international training and certification.

NEW GENERATION OF OFFICERS
Merchant Navy officers to operate and maintain the electrical propulsion installations of modern ships with new technologies and ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations and protection of the maritime environment and the environment.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING FOR SEA AND LAND
The new degree in Maritime Electrical Engineering includes the subjects of computer science, electricity, electronics, automation, new technologies from the engineering course, as well as specific knowledge to guarantee the safeguarding of human life at sea and all the particular categories of merchant navy officers.

HIGH PAY AND EMPLOYABILITY
High employability rate, due to the high national and international demand for maritime engineers, according to the testimonies of graduate students and companies in the sector. International studies indicate that demand exceeded the supply of engineers in 2021 and it is estimated that a further 89,510 certified officers will be needed by 2026, according to reports by BIMCO and ICS. The high salaries of maritime engineers, gross annual salary €100,000 - €120,000, according to the survey of the highest paid professions in Portugal in 2023 carried out by ManpowerGroup for People ranks second in the highest paid professions, just behind general manager. Source

The undergraduate course in Maritime Electrical Engineering (LEEM) lasts 6 semesters.
