Objective:
The objective of this course is to provide appropriate knowledge and training to perform basic safety duties on board a ship. By the end of the course the student should be prepared to survive at sea, to prevent and fight fires on board, to provide elementary first aid, to comply with emergency procedures, to take precautions to prevent pollution of the marine environment, to observe safe working practices, to understand orders and be understood in relation to shipboard duties and to contribute to effective human relationships on board.
