SMARTSEA (2019 - 2022)

The SMARTSEA project (Surveying & MARiTime internet of thingS EducAtion) aimed to develop a certified, interactive, and advanced Master's course related to Maritime & Surveyor IoT applications for the maritime, port, and surveying sectors, to empower individuals with the skills and knowledge required to work in the growing 'Smart Maritime and Surveying Infrastructure' sector.

The Principal Investigator at ENIDH was Professor Rosa Marat-Mendes, with the participation of Professors Mário Assunção, Pedro Teodoro, João Parente and Miguel Silva.

The course duration was established as 8 months, plus a 1-month maritime (on-the-job) experience, taking place one month after the end of the teaching period. During the course, three mobility periods were scheduled. For the first two (14 days), students and educators from one university will travel to another and vice versa to participate in large-scale laboratories, while the third period (1 month) was reserved for maritime on-the-job training.

Total Budget: 971 kEUR

ENIDH Budget: ~73 kEUR
