The partnership was composed of six major education and training centers, private companies, and universities across various EU countries, supported by their awarding, accreditation, and/or certification authorities.

Revolution Achieved
SeaSAFER was an online learning and assessment platform in which a selected number of accident scenarios were  imulated through an innovative approach. Anyone, anywhere in the world, could access it through a simple internet  onnection. Past accidents were generally presented in long reports (written in legal language) or were rarely used in  eafarer training. It was found that many institutions and seafarers lacked sufficient access to these simulators, nor were seafarers typically able to interpret these long reports to learn from them. SeaSAFER started from the principle that
every accident (e.g., collisions, groundings, and 'near-misses', etc.) was an opportunity to learn and take measures to ensure that the same, or something similar, would not happen repeatedly.

With its efforts, SeaSAFER aimed to reduce accidents and incidents when adapted to the 'safety culture' program of institutions and organizations. 'You could do things unsafely and get away with it. Sometimes more than once, frequently, but not always…'

Quality Assurance
The partners worked towards gaining acceptance from key certification and accreditation bodies, as well as several other universities. SeaSAFER focused on reducing future accidents by learning from past ones, which were presented on an innovative online learning platform. Work was carried out on this unique solution to ensure it was accessible to everyone (institutions, organizations, seafarers) through the most cost-effective (value) and easiest (access) option. The  SeaSAFER team worked on expanding its simulated accidents with new editions.

Less Accidents
It was predicted that there would be fewer accidents and incidents, which could be very costly in terms of human lives and injuries, as well as in financial terms. Maritime Innovators is based in Istanbul, Turkey, and provides online solutions for the maritime industry. LMA - Lithuanian Maritime Academy
The Lithuanian Maritime Academy (LMA) is based in Klaipeda, Lithuania, and provides various maritime courses for the industry. LMA is a modern leader in training maritime professionals for the national and international maritime sectors and is a member of the global maritime and academic community. This continuously improving institution trains highly qualified specialists who meet international standards for the sea and ports in Lithuania and worldwide. The maritime academy that everyone knows and recognizes is, at the same time, ever-changing, offering numerous maritime study programs, scientific and cultural ideas, and projects. Initiative, innovation, openness, culture, and maritime traditions – these are the main characteristics of its activity today.

Nikola Y. Vaptsarov Naval Academy of Varna
Nikola Y. Vaptsarov Naval Academy in Varna is the only higher education institution in Bulgaria for maritime officers and managers, both civilian and military. It provides three-cycle study programs in the areas of maritime transport, management, and security and defense.

MBNA - Mircea cel Batran Naval Academy
Mircea cel Batran Naval Academy (MBNA), based in Constanta, Romania, is an accredited public institution of higher polytechnic education and scientific research. MBNA operates in accordance with Romanian higher education law, carrying out its mission to educate and train specialists for the maritime and port industry.

IDEC S.A.
IDEC SA is based in Piraeus, Greece, and supports its clients with training and consultancy services. IDEC's activities consist of training, management consulting, quality assurance, evaluation, and the development of ICT solutions for both the private and public sectors. IDEC has been active for the past 25 years in the field of EU projects. It has extensive experience in European policies regarding lifelong learning and maritime education, as well as EQF, ECVET, Europass, EQAVET, the validation of non-formal and informal learning, and national reforms of education and training systems.

ENIDH
ENIDH is the only Portuguese maritime college and is in Paço de Arcos, near Lisbon, Portugal. The school's mission statement is 'to train merchant navy officers and other senior executives for the maritime-port, logistics, transport, and related sectors.
