The Transport and Logistics Department (DTL) was created in 2008, as a result of the merging of the Deck and Bridge Operations Department and the Management and Logistics Department.
The DTL oversees the following courses:
BACHELOR'S DEGREES
The faculty of the DTL is composed of 48 professors, 16 of which are Merchant Marine Officers. The lecturers ensure that the majority of the curricular units of the courses managed by the DTL, as well as some of the specialized courses made available by CEFE (Centro de Estudos e Formação Especializada), lead to a certification under the International STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping) Convention. The lecturers of the DTL also teach some curricular units in the courses offered by the Marine Engineering Department.
The lecturers of the DTL have participated in various research projects over the past few years in collaboration with other entities. The quality of ENIDH's navigation simulators (used by the students studying towards the degree in Deck and Bridge Operations and by some students attending the specialized courses), together with the professional experience of the lecturers, ensure that there is great demand for collaboration on research projects and studies from companies and other organisations (national and international).
In the scope of marine certification, the DTL staff coordinates the refresh courses and exams for Merchant Marine Officers. The Lecturers at DTL who are also Merchant Marine Officers integrate the examination boards for obtaining certificates of competency under the STCW Convention
The President of the Transport and Logistics Department is Prof.
Manuela Batista (manuelabatista@enautica.pt).
