LISBON HOSTS THE 19TH AIVP WORLD CONFERENCE – CITIES AND PORTS

The 19th edition of the AIVP World Conference – Cities and Ports brought together more than 400 participants and around 100 speakers in Lisbon, consolidating itself as one of the main international events on the relationship between port cities and sustainable development. The event took place between the 27th and 29th of November, highlighting topics such as sustainability, biodiversity, energy transition, and the challenges of integration between ports and cities.

Escola Superior Náutica Infante D. Henrique (ENIDH) was one of the event's partners, reinforcing its commitment to the discussion and implementation of innovative solutions for the maritime-port sector. On November 28, the president of ENIDH, Professor Vítor Franco Correia, participated in the thematic session "Environment and Biodiversity", which took place in the auditorium of the Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Security and Maritime Services (DGRM), on the ENIDH campus .

During the session, strategies were discussed to preserve marine and coastal biodiversity in harmony with the economic and logistical growth of port cities. Professor Vítor Franco Correia's speech highlighted the importance of education and training in developing sustainable and innovative solutions for the sector.

The conference demonstrated the strategic role of Lisbon and local institutions such as ENIDH in promoting sustainable practices and leading global debates on the future of ports and cities. The event reaffirmed the relevance of international collaboration to face environmental and social challenges linked to the growth of port cities.
