In collaboration with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and the University of South-Eastern Norway, the Escola Superior Náutica Infante D. Henrique organised the international conference "SIM'24 Sustainable Initiatives in the Maritime Sector: Main Challenges and Future Trends".
It was a very productive two days of work, bringing together academics and professionals from the maritime-port sector, presenting and discussing the latest trends in sustainable initiatives in the maritime sector, focusing on topics such as ocean conservation and environmental factors; sustainability issues in maritime transport; regulations, safety and autonomous navigation; education, training and ocean literacy; maritime logistics and supply chain management; maritime robotics and digital transformation; ports, ships and offshore solutions; decarbonisation and energy innovations.
The opening session was attended by the Secretary of State for the Sea, Lídia Bulcão, the President of ENIDH, Vitor Franco, the Councillor of Oeiras City Council, Pedro Patacho, the Representative of the Norwegian Embassy, Gerd Peterson, and Professor Manuela Batista and Professor Pedro Teodoro, members of the Organising Committee.
The closing ceremony was attended by the President of IPMA, José Guerreiro, the President of ENIDH, Vitor Franco, the Deputy Director-General for Maritime Policy, Sandra Cruz, as well as Per Haavardtun from the
USN and Viktoriia Koilo from
NTNU.
The conference was part of ENIDH's centenary celebrations, which are taking place this year.
