On 17 and 18 May, a study visit was made to the Viana do Castelo shipyard and other facilities in the maritime area located in the north of the country. The visit was carried out by 21 students from the Licence to Engineer Maritime Machines (LEMM), Electrotechnical Maritime Engineering (LEEM) and TeSP courses in Naval Mechanics and Naval Mechatronics, accompanied by six lecturers.
On the 17th, the delegation travelled to Viana do Castelo to visit the shipyards (ENVC). The ENIDH delegation was greeted by LEMM graduate Paulo Branco from ENVC, who welcomed the visitors. This was followed by a guided tour of the workshops, docks and ships being built and repaired at the shipyard.
In the afternoon, there was a study visit to the hospital ship Gil Eannes, moored at the commercial quay in the port of Viana do Castelo. The various parts of the ship were visited, with particular emphasis on the engine room, which was kindly made available to the school's delegation, and which is not usually accessible to the public.
