This training course is primarily intended for seafarers who have already completed the Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than Fast Rescue Boats) course and the Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats course, and who need to update their competence and certification in accordance with the STCW Convention.
The course fully complies with the requirements of Chapter VI, Section A-VI/2 and Table A-VI/2-2 of the STCW Convention and Code, as well as the guidelines of IMO Model Course 1.24 – "Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats."
Upon completion, participants will be competent to control the launching and recovery of a fast rescue boat, right a capsized boat, manoeuvre the craft under prevailing weather and sea conditions, swim wearing special equipment, use onboard emergency equipment, and recover casualties from the water and transfer them safely. Trainees will also learn to conduct search patterns considering environmental factors and to start and operate the fast rescue boat engine safely and effectively, ensuring efficient and safe rescue operations.
