This training course is intended for seafarers who have already completed the Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than Fast Rescue Boats) course and have at least six months of approved seagoing service.
The course fully complies with the requirements of the STCW Convention, as amended, Chapter VI, Section A-VI/2 and Table A-VI/2-2 of the STCW Code, as well as the guidelines of IMO Model Course 1.24 – "Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats".
Upon successful completion, participants will be able to control the safe launching and recovery of fast rescue boats, right an inverted craft, and manoeuvre the boat under a range of prevailing weather and sea conditions. They will also be capable of swimming wearing specialised equipment, operating onboard emergency systems, rescuing casualties from the water, and transferring them safely to a place of safety. Trainees will further learn to execute search patterns considering environmental factors, and to start and operate the engine of a fast rescue boat safely and effectively, ensuring the efficiency of maritime rescue operations.
