Objective

This course is primarily intended for seafarers who are designated to provide medical first aid on board ship.

The course fully complies with the requirements of the STCW Convention, Chapter VI, Section A-VI/4 and Table A-VI/4-1 of the STCW Code, as well as the guidelines of IMO Model Course 1.14 – "Medical First Aid".

During the training, participants will develop the competence to promptly identify the probable cause, nature, and extent of injuries in accordance with current first aid practices. They will also be able to minimise the risk of harm to themselves and to others, and to provide appropriate treatment for injuries and the patient's condition, in line with recognised first aid procedures and international guidelines.
