GENERAL OPERATOR‘S CERTIFICATE FOR THE GLOBAL MARITIME DISTRESS AND SAFETY SYSTEM – GOC-GMDSS

Objective
This course is intended for seafarers who will assume or perform duties related to radio communications on board ships required to participate in the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS).
The course fully complies with the requirements of the STCW Convention, as amended, Chapter IV, Section A-IV/2 of the STCW Code, as well as the guidelines of IMO Model Course 1.25 – "General Operator's Certificate for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS)."
Upon successful completion, participants will be competent to operate GMDSS equipment safely and efficiently and to take primary responsibility for radio communications during distress, urgency, and safety situations at sea, in accordance with international communication procedures.
