PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
The professional higher technical course in Naval Mechatronics (CTeSP-MTN) is the result of a reorganisation of the professional higher technical course in Naval Electronics and Automation, created in 2015. With the entry into force of a new legal regime for the professional activity of seafarers, it became necessary to revise the course's curricular structure to enable graduates to register at sea with the professional category of Electrotechnician.

The CTeSP-MTN aims to prepare specialist technicians with a level 5 qualification from the National Qualifications Framework who, autonomously or as part of a team, ensure the operation and maintenance of electrical, electronic, electromechanical, control and command systems used in both the industrial and maritime sectors. The training offered is based on the General and Scientific, Technical and Work Experience strands, providing students with knowledge and skills that can be used in a wide variety of professional areas, in Portugal or abroad, from the most traditional to the most innovative. The main field of professional activity is considered to be commercial shipping, fisheries and local traffic, harbour terminals, shipbuilding and ship repair yards, as well as the entire land-based industrial sector and services in related areas.

Graduates of the CTESP-MTN are also prepared to continue their studies in higher education, namely in the ENIDH Engineering degree courses, where they can obtain credits in the scientific areas of the respective courses.

The strong demand for skilled labour in this sector is a solid indicator of the high employability rate, which has been proven in previous years since the course was created.
