ENIDH's master's programmes are aimed at the post-graduate training of merchant navy officers and other staff in the transport sector who meet the quality standards adopted internationally in the maritime-port sector.
The skills and knowledge required of these professionals, due to their vastness and specificity, cannot be provided by training at degree level. It is also important to prepare professionals who are qualified and committed to developing scientific research activities in the field of maritime transport, ports and logistics.
The curriculum plans for the Master's degrees in Pilotage and Maritime Machinery Engineering comply with the training standards established by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), which guarantees that graduates can obtain international certification to carry out their professional activity in any national and international merchant navy at management level. In the case of the Master's degree in Pilotage, it allows you to rise to the professional category of Merchant Navy Captain and in the case of the Master's degree in Maritime Machinery Engineering, it allows you to rise to the professional category of Chief Engineer Machinist. These courses are recognised at national level by the Portuguese Maritime Administration - DGRM.
It should be noted that in the maritime transport sector, both domestically and internationally, the labour market is currently very short of qualified professionals for the merchant navy, particularly at management level.
